Referendum Update: September 2025

It’s been a busy and exciting month across our district as we continue moving forward with the projects made possible by our community’s support of the capital referendum. Thank you for investing in our schools. Here’s a look at what’s been happening behind the scenes and on-site!

Central Fieldhouse

The Central Fieldhouse has been the main focus of construction this month, with several major milestones now complete. Crews delivered and installed the HVAC rooftop curbs, and 17 truckloads of concrete were poured for the new wood flooring section. Corridor demolition, new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough-in work are all underway, while painting and masonry crews are mobilizing on-site. The project team also had a special moment joining staff in welcoming students back on the first day of school.

HVAC Projects

Work continues at West Milwaukee and Dottke, where contractors have been selected and ceiling removal/remediation is complete. Plan reviews and permitting are now in progress with the City. HVAC engineering has also begun for Pershing, Irving, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Nathan Hale, all part of our 2026 project schedule. Each site has unique design challenges, but our engineers are already working on solutions.

Roofing Projects

Roof replacements are finished at Central, Pershing, Horace Mann, and Hale. Planning for our next round of roofing projects, scheduled for 2026, will begin in October.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, planning and design work will continue for our 2026 projects at Frank Lloyd Wright, Hale, Irving, and Pershing.

We are thrilled with the progress so far and look forward to sharing more as the work continues. Thank you for your support - together, we are building strong schools for today and the future!
